Impact Morejon went on the injured list July 16 due to a right knee strain. It was the second significant injury of the season for the southpaw, who missed over two months to start the campaign with a left elbow strain. Morejon has been limited to eight big-league appearances this season, allowing seven earned runs and posting an 8:5 K:BB over nine innings.

Michael Wacha - Tosses two frames in rehab start Wacha (shoulder) made a minor-league rehab start with Triple-A El Paso on Saturday, allowing two hits and three walks while striking out two batters over two scoreless innings.
Impact Wacha made his first game appearance since tossing five innings for the Padres against Cincinnati on July 1. The right-hander was a bit wild in the rehab start, throwing just half of his 46 pitches for a strike, but he didn't allow any runs and appeared to come out of the outing physically fine. Per MLB.com, Wacha could return to the Padres as soon as next weekend against Arizona, though another rehab appearance is also a possibility.

Impact Martinez came through with two effective frames Saturday and picked up the victory when the Padres rallied for seven runs in the eighth inning. The right-hander's previous outing was a spot start in Colorado on Wednesday, when he allowed just one hit and struck out three batters over three scoreless frames. Martinez was limited to 38 pitches in that outing, as he was filling in for an injured Joe Musgrove (shoulder) and wasn't built up to anywhere near a full workload. After throwing 22 pitches in relief Saturday, Martinez would presumably be working in a short-inning opener capacity again if he does start Tuesday against the Mariners. The veteran hasn't thrown more than 50 pitches in any appearance since a seven-inning, 97-pitch start way back on April 19 against Atlanta.
