Tyler Glasnow - Back issue downplayed Manager Kevin Cash said Sunday that Glasnow (back) could be ready to make a start for the Rays during the club's upcoming three-game series with the Cardinals, Tricia Whitaker of B...
Impact Glasnow had been in line to start Sunday's series finale with the Tigers, but after he experienced back spasms late Saturday, the Rays scratched him and had reliever Erasmo Ramirez make a spot start in his stead. According to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times, Glasnow will likely meet with a doctor Monday, but at this stage, Cash doesn't believe the big right-hander is at risk of going on the IL. If the doctor agrees with Cash's assessment and Glasnow responds well to treatment, he could be back on the mound as early as Wednesday or Thursday.

Christian Bethancourt - Notches two hits Bethancourt went 2-for-5 with a double and two runs scored in Sunday's win over the Tigers.
Impact Bethancourt tallied his first multi-hit effort since June 30 and had just his second extra-base hit in his last 20 games. The 31-year-old has had a rough go at the plate this year, slashing .218/.251/.368 with seven homers, 23 RBI, 33 runs and an 11:63 BB:K in 248 plate appearances. Despite his struggles, Bethancourt faces little competition for starts behind the dish since Francisco Mejia (knee) went down with a sprained knee July 20.
1 HOUR AGO • ROTOWIRE
Brandon Lowe - Goes yard again in win Lowe went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer in Sunday's win over the Tigers.
Impact Lowe continues to terrorize opposing pitchers with his fifth home run over his last 10 games. The 28-year-old is still hitting just .226 on the year but has been showcasing tremendous power potential as of late. Lowe has typically been slotting in at the three spot against righties and will look to continue his momentum with the Rays lined up to face five right-handers in the upcoming week.
1 HOUR AGO • ROTOWIRE
Wander Franco - Another three-hit effort Franco went 3-for-5 with a two-run homer and two runs scored in Sunday's win over the Tigers.
Impact Franco swatted his 15th home run of the season to put the Rays up 10-6 in the eighth inning. The 22-year-old shortstop has been on an absolute tear at the plate over the last 10 days, posting a .358 batting average while hitting four home runs, driving in five and scoring 9 runs in 41 plate appearances. Franco's recent hot bat has propelled the Rays to three straight series wins, as he's looked to have potentially turned a corner entering the final stretch of the season.

Yandy Díaz - Homers as part of three-hit day Diaz went 3-for-5 with a two-run homer, a double and three runs scored in Sunday's win over the Tigers.
Impact Diaz led off the game with a double and then sent a screamer to left center in the second to put the Rays up 5-0. Diaz now has two home runs in August but has hit just four since May 26. In his age 31 season, Diaz is on pace to set career highs in home runs, RBI and runs scored. He's cemented himself as one of the elite leadoff men in baseball this season and is now slashing .315/.398/.508 with 16 homers, 55 RBI, 67 runs and a .906 OPS.

Erasmo Ramírez - Tosses three innings Ramirez allowed one run on three hits and a walk while striking out three over three innings in Sunday's start against the Tigers. He did not factor into the decision.
Impact Ramirez threw a season-high 58 pitches to get the game started off for the Rays. The 33-year-old was given an early 5-0 cushion and only encountered trouble in the second after letting up three base hits in the inning. Ramirez has now allowed just one run in eight innings pitched since being called up July 30 and should remain a long-relief option with the team's starting depth being tested by injuries.

Jose Siri - Gets Sunday off Siri is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers.
Impact Siri will get a breather after he went 2-for-7 with a home run, a walk, three RBI and two additional runs while starting in both of the first two games of the series. Josh Lowe will fill in for Siri in center field on Sunday.
8 HOURS AGO • ROTOWIRE
Luke Raley - Returns to lineup Sunday Raley (knee) will start in right field and bat fifth in Sunday's game against the Tigers.
Impact Raley is back in action after he was on the bench for the Rays' previous two games with a bruised right knee. The fact that the Rays are deploying him in the outfield rather than at designated hitter suggests the team is comfortable with his health heading into a six-game week.

Jalen Beeks - Rejoins big club The Rays recalled Beeks from Triple-A Durham on Sunday.
Impact Beeks will provide Tampa Bay with a much-needed fresh arm in relief while the Rays likely treat Sunday's series finale in Detroit as a bullpen day with right-hander Erasmo Ramirez making a spot start in place of the injured Tyler Glasnow (back). Over his 27 appearances with Tampa Bay this season, Beeks has posted a 6.27 ERA and 1.47 WHIP across 37.1 innings.
10 HOURS AGO • ROTOWIRE
Vidal Bruján - Moves back to minors The Rays optioned Brujan to Triple-A Durham on Sunday.
Impact Brujan will head back to Triple-A to clear a spot on the 26-man active roster for lefty Jalen Beeks, who was recalled from Durham in a corresponding move to give the Rays a fresh arm out of the bullpen for Sunday's series finale with the Tigers. During his two-week stint with the Rays, Brujan appeared in five games and logged just three at-bats.
10 HOURS AGO • ROTOWIRE
Erasmo Ramírez - Needed for spot start Sunday Ramirez will make a spot start Sunday against the Tigers in Detroit, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Impact Since getting called up from Triple-A Durham a week ago, Ramirez made three-inning and two-inning appearances out of the bullpen, but he'll be called upon to make a spot start on short notice after Tyler Glasnow experienced back spasms late Saturday that will prevent him from taking the hill Sunday. Since he'll be pitching on three days' rest and hasn't covered more than four innings in any of his appearances in the majors or minors this season, Ramirez is unlikely to work deep enough into the start to qualify for a win. The Rays don't have an obvious candidate to work in bulk relief behind Ramirez and may be treating Sunday's contest as more of a bullpen day.
10 HOURS AGO • ROTOWIRE
Tyler Glasnow - Scratched from Sunday start Glasnow has been scratched from his scheduled start Sunday against the Tigers due to back spasms, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Impact Right-hander Erasmo Ramirez will pick up a spot start in place of Glasnow, who reportedly experienced the back issue late Saturday. The Rays are likely still gaining information on the extent of Glasnow's injury, so at this stage, the team is hoping that he'll miss only one turn through the rotation and won't require a trip to the injured list.
10 HOURS AGO • ROTOWIRE
Aaron Civale - Takes loss in Rays debut Civale (5-3) took the loss Saturday, allowing three runs on nine hits over 4.1 innings against Detroit while striking out four.
Impact Civale allowed leadoff singles in each of the first four innings, which led to one run coming across for Detroit in the second, followed by two more in the fourth. The newly-acquired right-hander would then be relieved by Kevin Kelly in the fifth after surrendering a one-out double to Kerry Carpenter, marking the first time that Civale's failed to make it through at least five innings since June 14. He had given up two or fewer runs in six straight starts coming in while the nine hits he allowed Saturday matched his season high.
